Please welcome
Megan Harner, a kick-ass Pinkie who I met on Twitter (@Meganmonique- follow her, Pinkies!). She's been posting on her blog about
her Joy Journal. I was so inspired by how beautifully she is Owning Pink that I invited her to guest post on Owning Pink. And she graciously agreed. Let's give her a big Pink round of applause and a big deep bow. Namaste, Megan:
The Pink Invitation
I was approached by Lissa early in the week to write a guest blog about how I "Own Pink." Not only was I thrilled that she asked me to do this, but I have also been bragging to all of my closest friends about what an honor it is.
As the weekdays flew by, I found myself puzzled thinking about what I should write. Then Thursday came and my boss told me that the company would need to cut back my hours because business is slow for the time being, but they didn't want to lose me completely. It was a compliment mixed with some scary news, but I understood the circumstances.
I found myself sitting in my kitchen that Thursday evening, wondering how I could write a piece on Owning Pink, when at the time I felt lost as how to actually OWN PINK. And then it hit me! As if the universe were sweeping me off my feet, I soon realized that this is truly what Owning Pink was all about!
What Owning Pink Is All About
The past year has been a journey of discovery for me. I learned more about who I am and how I want to live my life than I ever imagined was possible. Never had I dreamt that there was so much depth to the universe and so much simplicity all the same. I go through each day with the philosophy that "thoughts become things." Therefore I simply have to imagine what it is that I want for myself and my life, visualize it, feel it, put an action in place that corresponds with my desires and anything I want is truly possible.
Yes, the possibility of losing my job is scary. Not to mention the current state of the economy fueling the fear. However, I refuse to start living into the illusions that surround me, I have come too far. Owning Pink is phrase that simply and powerfully puts into words all of the responsibility, power, authenticity, self love, creativity, worth, health and wealth that consumes us as women. We are creatures of myth and beauty, no matter the shape, size or color we come in. Our roots grow deep and our love for ourselves and those around exceeds what (hu)mankind deemed possible.
When YOU Own Pink
When you take on the idea and action of Owning Pink you are making a stand to yourself and to the universe that YOU are woman, let us hear you ROAR! You are Owning your Body, just the way it is, your spirit, your family, your life and everything that has ever intrigued you or left you craving more. It is my power, it is YOUR power to declare who we are as people and to get out of this life, whatever it is that we want. After all, that's why we're here, struggling is optional. If I were you, I would opt out!
My Owning Pink Declaration
I am declaring that no matter the state of mind in the economy, no matter the trials and tribulations I might face in my lifetime, I will always take a moment to dig deep in my soul and find exactly what it is that brings me pure joy and love. This is me, Owning Pink.
With Pink love to you all,
Megan

Love and hugs to you, Megan
I absolutely love your post.
By Anges (not verified) on Wednesday, 12/16/2009 at 9:01 PMI absolutely love your post. Powerful yet very Pink... I love Pink Power :-) You put a smile on my face. I lost my very well paid job in 2006 as I gave birth to my youngest son and it was the scariest thing that ever happened to me (well almost LOL) but the Universe is here for us if we trust. ((((((hug)))))
Well written and extremely
By Susanna (not verified) on Tuesday, 06/16/2009 at 9:09 AMWell written and extremely powerful! I love it. How profound...struggling is optional. I love that events in your life are not happening to you, but your are making the events in your life happen. Owning Pink, that you are!
You are such a Pink God,
By Lissa Rankin on Saturday, 06/13/2009 at 4:58 PMYou are such a Pink God, Toby. And with Linda as your wife, no wonder you get it! But thank you, nevertheless, for valuing what we're doing here. You're right- women ARE sadly devalued. And it's inspiring to have men like you who get it. Pink On, indeed!
It is so profoundly moving to
By Toby (not verified) on Saturday, 06/13/2009 at 7:59 AMIt is so profoundly moving to see what you have manifested and brought out into the world, Lissa! It's so deeply empowering to the women whose paths you cross and whom you inspire. The sentiments that megan espouses apply to both men and women - especially that thoughts become things! In a world where women are still sadly devalued in so many ways (yes, even in these wonderful United States) your Owning Pink concept is glorious, moving and vital. Pink On! Toby

By Lissa Rankin on Saturday, 06/13/2009 at 5:29 AMIsn't life better if we're all cheerleaders of each other??? Thanks for chiming in with your love and support for fellow Pinkie Megan. And yes, it IS funny how the universe works. It's a perfect example of how "thoughts become things" (or people.) I set the intention to build a website that attracted beautiful human-being who share a desire for a richer, more connected, more honest, more authentic life. And here you are....
Megan, What a great post! I

What a great post! I just love how the universe sends like-minded people into our lives (if even by way of blogs and books) so that we can be cheerleaders for one another! This post is a reminder for me and I thank you!
Leslee
I salute you too, Megan.
By Lissa Rankin on Saturday, 06/13/2009 at 4:39 AMI salute you too, Megan. You're a total Pink Goddess! And thank you, Dana, for sharing your wisdom. (For those who don't know, Dana had the courage to leave her law practice to become a life coach who helps women follow their dreams).
Megan, several things came up for me when I read your beautiful post. 1. It's not about what's happening to you- it's about how you perceive it. Yes, the economy and your job change can be scary, but you had the choice to fall into that fear or to embrace gratitude, and you chose Pink, which takes courage. But I genuinely believe that your Pink choice will manifest the goodness you desire. Check out this old Pink Post about Manifesting Goodness http://www.owningpink.com/2009/03/06/manifesting-goodness/ 2.Your post demonstrates what can happen when you invite Owning Pink into your life. When something potentially negative entered your life, you transformed your view of it until you took the power back for yourself. By living from your power, instead of from your fear, you WILL have more joy (mo-jo). Wow. It's that easy. By surrendering into whatever is happening, rather than clinging and struggling and fearing, you release- you trust the path. Who knows? Maybe having more time away from your job will open up some creative outlet you wouldn't have been able to pursue had you been busier at work. What have you always wanted to do? What does your deepest heart desire? What is your authentic self telling you when you take time away from busyness to really listen? When you trust that voice, you will be surprised by what comes up. And if, by some chance, you do lose your job, release into it. Imagine what that freedom might bring?
When we separate ourselves from fear and just surrender- have faith in JABA (Jesus/Jehovah, Allah, Buddha, Athena, etc), the universe, and the process, mojo follows.
THANK YOU, Megan, for being vulnerable, telling your truth, and demonstrating Owning Pink for us all.
Megan, You are so right!
By Dana - Your Inspired Coach (not verified) on Saturday, 06/13/2009 at 4:23 AMMegan,
You are so right! Struggling is optional. Love it. I couldn't agree with you more about finding whatever brings you pure joy and pure love no matter what is going on externally. We find all of those things that bring us joy and love internally.
When we begin to give ourselves permission to pamper ourselves and do only what feels good for us, suddenly we are flooded with inspiration that leads us down the path to our deepest desires. It makes us more and more attractive to others, and draws in the perfect people to work, live and play with.
Thoughts do become things, and I've discovered that if you do only those things that feel good for you and find the feel good in the things you have to do, or delegate them out, your thoughts just can't help but improve and your external reality begins to improve like magic.
I salute how you are Owning Pink.
