So you’ve crossed the Pink Threshold. You’ve made the commitment. You’re after your Mojo, and there will be no stone left unturned until you’re powerfully Owning Pink. You’ve got your art supplies, your altar, your Joy Journal, and you religiously follow the Mojo Monday exercises. Hooray! Now how about forming a Pink Posse?
Perhaps you already know who will comprise your Posse. Maybe you’re part of a book club or knitting circle. Maybe you live near a group of friends from high school or college who gathers every now and again for cocktails and shared memories. Perhaps you are close to your sisters or your mother or your aunts and that community is the one that is inspiring and supporting you as you reclaim your Spirituality, Health, Sexuality, Creativity …
Or maybe there are no such people yet, and you need to start from scratch. That’s great too. Whether you’ve already got your posse candidates picked out, or you know they’re still out there, here are a few tips on forming your Pink Posse, making it official, and starting down the road toward Mojo linked arm-in-arm with your fellow Pinkies.
- Decide what your posse will be. Do you want a small, intimate group? Would you rather a larger posse for gatherings that feel more like parties? How often will you meet? Where? Will you be the leader of the group, or will someone different facilitate the proceedings each time? Of course, this is all subject to change (as are we!), but it’s helpful to have some of these decisions made ahead of time so that when you invite your fellow Pinkies to the group, they’ll know what to expect. Then at the first meeting you’ll be able to dive right into your Mojo-unearthing discussions and activities without having to discuss logistics.
- Choose your Pink peeps. Maybe you already know them. Invite your girlfriends, family, whomever to join your Pink Posse. Get creative – send out an e-vite, or maybe even snail mail some good, old fashioned princess party invitations or girly valentines. Make sure to tell them to RSVP. If you don’t already have candidates for your group, an ad on craigslist or a shout out on Twitter does wonders to attract like-minded people in your area. Not sure how to explain what Owning Pink is about? Link to the website, direct them to the Owning Pink Facebook page or forum. Point them to a couple of Mojo Monday exercises as “for instance”s of what the meetings might entail.
- Make a Posse Roster including as much information as the Posse members are willing to give. You may want to celebrate birthdays, or have each other’s telephone numbers for a day that you’re not feeling particularly Pink – or are busting with it! – and need to dish with a fellow Posse member.
- Get going! With your logistics already planned, dive on in. Pick a Mojo exercise and get to it. Perhaps your first meeting is a Crossing the Pink Threshold Ceremony. Maybe everyone comes with their intention for their personal Owning Pink journey to share with the group.
- Be imaginative. There are no rules on how to Own Pink – in fact, rules are highly discouraged. Owning Pink is about having an open heart, open mind, and a spirit eager to plant itself firmly back in your body with all its glorious Mojo. The most important think is to support each other in whatever it takes to get there.
- Stay connected to the Owning Pink Community! Write about how you formed your Posse and how they’re helping you to Own Pink. Connect with other Pink Posses around the country on the Pink Posse Forum. Imagine the power of a global Pink Posse …
Have fun, Pinkies and enjoy the PINK sisterhood!

Carmela just invited me out in August for a yoga tour and I’m trying to make arrangements to make that happen. Perhaps we’ll be posse’ing again soon.
