Exploring What Is and Isn’t Working
This is a month to explore what makes you tick, examining your phobias, fears and secrets. It’s time to recognize what could be freezing you in place or holding you back from your basic aims and desires. Are you immobilized by anxiety, or feel like a slave to unalterable commitments? Explore why change may seem painful. What truly makes you happy? Or is being unhappy okay? When is unhappiness not okay? You may not seek that overt happy feeling, but contentment can be achieved in many ways and on many levels.

What Are You Ready to Let Go?
Are you holding onto pain that it’s time to release? Meditate or write out lists of possibilities. You could also try a past life regression or hypnotherapy session or open up a psychology book. Embark on a search for where your most powerless self might be hiding. Where do you begin to look? Clues may lie in your mental anguish, lack of physical motivation, or spiritual unrest, feelings of inadequacy, inferiority, loneliness, or isolation. There’s no need to process this with others, as long as you are responsive to the clues that arise from your inner sanctuary.

Shining the Light
Inner sanctuary work is when you shine your inner light into the temple of your body, mind and soul. The personal power that sits within you – your life force – is the god light. In the eyes of God you are a perfect human, but we allow societal and cultural programming to alter how we feel about ourselves and our surroundings. Your turmoil may well be attached to a false sense of propriety. Go deep into your soul knowledge – what is your highest duty to yourself?

Find what seems broken or lost within you. Bring into your being the basics of grace, attitude and effort. Start taking steps toward better health, appreciating relationships and friendships, challenging yourself in your career, and being whole in your spiritual nature. Awaken the slumbering parts of you.

Journal Questions:
What are you hiding about yourself? What have you tried to hide? What don’t you want others to know about you? What do you fear – is it judgment, trust, the weather, conflict, the problems of the world? Are you paranoid? Is your courage intact?

How do you feel about yourself – your looks? Your mind? Your body? Your strength? Do you focus on self pity? Do you exclude those around you – friends, family, community? Are your support systems balanced? Are you your own Island, or are you spreading your energy too thin to be able to address your own deepest needs?

Where is the lack stemming from in your life? What are the blocks? What are the solutions?

Feel trust being activated in your solar plexus. You won’t always know where you are going, but you must trust that you can have a beautiful life.

Tara and Lissa: Thanks for this elegant post. An easy way to tap into that inner wisdom is writing, but not standard journaling. If you write directly to your inner voice of wisdom (and yes, give it a name) and ask open ended rich questions and then writer very fast, the voice of spirit has a chance to break through your normal daily beta-brain wave chatter and deliver the information you need right now. You’ve given us some glorious questions to soul write about. THANKS
    Janet

Oooh- brilliant, Janet. Is that what some call automatic writing? I’ve been exploring that concept and find it very exciting. Thanks for your thoughts!

  3. Sarah says:

I used to journal a lot. Most of the time it was a form of whine at God, ask a question and then I’d write the answer that came to me.

I never really connected this to ‘god’offering me answers until I had become Catholic & began spending time in Adoration in front of the Blessed Sacrement. I’d whine, I’d pose questions…then I’d just quietly wait. I truly feel the answers I was writing-and sometimes they weren’t answers as much as a commentary & gentle reasoning on why this certain thing was necessary or had happened, were from God/Holy Spirit working within me.

I gave up journalling for the most part about 6 years ago. I am tempted to throw out my old journals, I really don’t want my kids to read some of the belly button gazing that I wrote.

I’m considering taking up journalling again as a means (again) to work out some issues in my life. I like the questions you posed in the article-and a part of me realizes that I don’t want to know what’s hidden. I don’t want to face it, I don’t want to deal with it, but perhaps it’s time.

I’m going on a retreat in 2 weeks titled ‘Healing Your Family Tree’ which deals with forgiveness & reconciliation. I hope in the quiet there to begin to gain some insight into the shadow’s in the closet that I hide from.

  4. This post was just what I needed today. I am just struggling with a lot of inner “junk” and need to work it all out. I’ve been getting a lot of intuitive answers to my inner questions over the last few days and this is giving me more to think of and more questions to ask. Thank you!

    Janet & Sarah,

Your comments are truly the way to connect. I do channeled readings for people, and this is the way I do it: A person asks me (via email) the burning question he or she is wondering about. I quiet myself first. Then, I connect with the person’s energy, much as if I was going to send that person Reiki via distance. Then I ask the person’s guidance to please answer this question I’ve been asked. I read the question. Then I mentally step back and type like mad whatever comes to mind. I don’t stop typing until the words stop flowing. Then, I correct typos and email the answer to the person. I’ve received feedback that the readings are helpful and profound, exactly what the person needed to hear.

I’ve gone through doubts too – whose words am I typing? Is it my own common sense or thoughts I’m giving? But what happens is if I trust the process, I have less anxiety over it. The recipient always seems to resonate with the reading, and what’s more, often the words I send are different from what I personally would have said if offering my own advice.

So the point is, we all have the capacity to tap into higher wisdom when we quiet our minds and trust that we can do it. We can even help others. We are all connected on this invisible strand of energy, to each other, and to Source.

Sarah, your retreat will give you what you need to move forward if you are ready.

Janet, you are truly tapping into your higher wisdom in your process.

Leslee, you can find within yourself what you need.

Lissa, love and appreciation always – for you and for this wonderful Pink community.

I’m so glad Tara’s post inspired you all! And thank you Alice, for holding the space here at Owning Pink yesterday while I was with my dear friend visiting from Boston. Happy Labor Day weekend to you all!

  7. Sulis says:

Have been thinking carefully about this post for a few days. Until very recently, my impression of astrology was based on generic simplifications like this one.

If the purpose is to encourage personal journaling then that seems quite fine to me. But it also seems a pity that it perpetuates such a limited view of astrology.

So, I’d like to add this for those who want to dive a little deeper:

As a novice student at the Astropoetic School of Soul Discovery, I’ve discovered that astrology at its best is a philosophical system that can guide each of us into a much, much deeper relationship with our own souls than I ever thought possible.

An astrological chart for a Full Moon is meaningful only when interpreted within the context of your own life. For that, you’d need to compare the chart for the Full Moon with your own birth chart.

As I now understand, one size astrology just cannot fit all, and no two people will respond to the Full Moon or to any other celestial phenomena in exactly the same way.
