This song from Regina Spektor's 2009 album Far inspired me to post it here. I just heard it for the first time recently, and it's still swirling around my head. I downloaded it to my Pink Playlist on my Ipod and was wandering amongst the redwoods in Muir Woods when I heard it. I wound up in tears. Not sure why it moved me so much, but I wanted to share it with you Pinkies. I guess it just made me realize that it's easy to become fair weather friends with the Divine. Maybe it's time to Own Your Spirituality and shift your relationship with JABA (Jesus/ Jehovah, Allah, Buddha, Athena, etc) to reflect gratitude and joy, not just need and pain.
Here are Regina's lyrics:
No one laughs at God in a hospital
No one laughs at God in a war
No one's laughing at God when they're starving or freezing or so very poor
No one laughs at God when the doctor calls after some routine tests
No one's laughing at God when it's gotten real late and their kid's not back from that party yet
No one laughs at God when their airplane starts to uncontrollably shake
No one's laughing at God when they see the one they love hand in hand with someone else and they hope that they're mistaken
No one laughs at God when the cops knock on their door and they say "We've got some bad new, sir,"
No one's laughing at God when there's a famine, fire or flood
But God can be funny
At a cocktail party while listening to a good God-themed joke or
Or when the crazies say he hates us and they get so red in the head you think that they're about to choke
God can be funny
When told he'll give you money if you just pray the right way
And when presented like a genie
Who does magic like Houdini
Or grants wishes like Jiminy Cricket and Santa Claus
God can be so hilarious
No one laughs at God in a hospital
No one laughs at God in a war
No one's laughing at God when they've lost all they got and they don't know what for
No one laughs at God on the day they realize that the last sight they'll ever see is a pair of hateful eyes
No one's laughing at God when they're saying their goodbyes
No one's laughing at God
We're all laughing with God.

By Susan Lissberger (not verified) on Sunday, 09/13/2009 at 6:15 AMNo one's laughing at God when they are saying their goodbyes...........And the flood gate of tears stream down my face on a beautiful Sunday morning, after listening to a song that opened my heart just a little bit more than normal.........How many times have we sat in the middle of "so many" of the lyrics situations and thanked God with every ounce of who we are.........What a beautiful song, what a beautiful reminder of an entire life's worth of memories, what a beautiful message,........This song was very healing for me. Yes, the flood gates to my heart have been opened.....Thank you, I'm not laughing at God right now!!..........Much love to you Lissa on this perfect Sunday morning. You gave me a gift that touched my heart in a way I cant describe, that doesn't need describing, but I am very thankful for.......You are my blessing this morning!!
Susan....
