Hiya Pinkies!
This weekend I am heading to New York City for the first weekend of the Mastery Program at Mama Gena’s School of Womanly Arts. You Pinkies may remember Mama Gena from the interview I did with her a few months ago for my book, What’s Up Down There? Questions You’d Only Ask Your Gynecologist If She Was Your Best Friend (St. Martin’s Press, October 2010). This is a Pinkie who has redefined (or, more accurately, unearthed) the truth of what it is to be a woman, and to Own Pleasure.
What I'm In For*
According to Mama Gena (and the Pinkies and Sister Goddesses to whom I’ve spoken who have taken the course), this weekend is going to be about “unleashing the intoxicating experience of being exquisitely you within a community of strong, hot, fun, confident women.” Whoa, Nelly! Something tells me my life is about to be taken to a whole new level of Pinkness. Some of what I can expect to be reacquainted with this spring includes:
Uh, yes... please! Who among us doesn’t desire to touch into these elements of their own lives? And Pinkies – there’s still room! Please come join me this weekend if you can.
In preparation for all of this, I thought I’d take stock of where I am, and where I’m headed. To do this, I’m going to be doing a round of what Mama Gena calls "the BGDs": Brags, Gratitudes, and Desires (Mama Gena calls it the Holy Trinity!). I figure, what better way to get where I want to than by Owning where I am? Of course this exercise must include you Pinkies, who will be with me in spirit (or maybe in person!) throughout this course.
How to OWN the BGDs
1. First, list your brags. This is anything about your life and yourself that you feel is particularly wonderful. Anything you’re proud of. This can be an awkward practice for many of us (especially women), who have been taught not to make ourselves too big or draw too much attention to ourselves (ugh, when did this happen? And why?). The Sister Goddesses (Mama Gena’s online community) actually keep a “brag board,” where one Sister Goddess lists a brag and the others “upride” you – telling you how great you really are, instantly dissolving any shame a sister might feel in speaking about herself this way. Why not start this practice in your own Pink Posse?
2. Now, list your gratitudes. What about yourself and your life are you most grateful? Dig deep. Be thankful!
3. Finally, think about all that you desire. Having made lists of what makes you strong and what makes you grateful is a wonderful primer to start thinking about all that is possible. Don’t edit based on limited beliefs or the fact that you can’t see “how” something might happen. When you are living in your power, anything is possible. Live big, Pinkies! Go nuts. As Pink Goddess Tama Kieves says, "Figure out what will make you giggle to your toes."
I’m ready!
Whew! How are you feeling now, Pinkies? What did this exercise bring up for you? What new part of yourself do you feel ready to Own? What does taking it to the next level look like to you? How do you Own Pleasure in your every day life?
I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling energized, hopeful, and pretty damn excited about this weekend. Please join me, Pinkies – there’s still room! You can find out more and register at Mama Gena’s website: www.mamagenas.com.
What are your BGD's? What if we make this a daily practice? Start practicing here in the comments or join the Brags, Gratitudes, Desires Group on the Pink Posse to share what you wish to OWN.
Owning what I got – and ready to take it higher,
Lissa

Lissa- Way to own your
By Danielle Vieth (not verified) on Tuesday, 03/16/2010 at 5:32 AMLissa- Way to own your pleasure and your fantastic life! When you, or any one of us, brag it opens the space for the rest of us to own our fabulousness. Thank you for getting us started! You have so many red-hot brags (as we ALL do) and it is so good to see you share them. Not sure why we are taught not to celebrate our successes and to share them. Bragging, when it feels safe to us, is one of the quickest mood boosters I've even seen.
I see all of your desires on their way to you and more! Including the NY Times Bestseller list. Own it! Your desires are inevitable. And so it is!
While I've done the "holy trinity" many times, I've never done them publicly, like on a blog, but here goes!
Brags:
1. I brag I am a fantastic speaker and have doing more speaking lately. Last month after a presentation I gave an audience members told me I brought her to tears because of my speaking style. She said I have the ability to stay in my goddess energy and connect with the crowd while clearly delivering linear information. I have a combination she has rarely seen in anyone and she is a professional speaker! I brag spoke at another event last week and an audience member told me I have a great style, am very engaging and I command the room. Wow!
2. I brag I have stepped away from the "daily grind" of corporate life and am doing business with pleasure in a win-win paradigm with Team Northrup. I work with some of my best friends and an amazing mentor, Dr. Christiane Northrup. I brag I am also learning to integrate my past corporate life (through freelance work) with this new life of goddess business.
3. I brag the other day I decided I desire more flowers in my life and the next day a Twitter friend I had never met before showed up at lunch with flowers from her garden for me. The day after that I went on a hike and was surrounded by wildflowers.
4. I brag lately people keep telling me how much I inspire them. (This pleases me to no end. What an honor!)
5. I brag I have embraced "living in the question" because "playing it safe" no longer works for me.
Gratitudes
1. I am so grateful for Owning Pink and all of you Pinkies!
2. I am so grateful for the opportunity to participate in the "Pink Tank" at Lissa's house a couple of weeks ago. Whoa!
3. I am grateful I made two new friends this weekend.
4. I am grateful I live seconds from amazing hikes, views, the beach.
5. I am grateful for the amazing weather today. I feel the energy of spring and the sweetness of summer all at once!
6. I am grateful for the support of my family in so many ways.
7. I am grateful to be joining Lissa and so many friends in NYC this weekend for Mastery.
8. I am grateful for my intuition and my intellect.
9. I am grateful for reinvention.
10. I am grateful for Twitter and the amazing connections it allows me.
Desires
1. I desire a pleasurable, fun, easy trip to New York this weekend with connections with old & new friends.
2. I desire clarity in all areas of my life.
3. I desire to truly trust myself.
4. I desire more flowers in my life! (keep 'em coming)
5. I desire to grow my business with pleasure and joy.
6. I desire to meet my divine right partner/hubby for love, friendship, passion, family, fun, intimacy and adventure!
7. I desire to get into the best shape of my life.
8. I desire to write more and to speak more.
9. I desire a fun, juicy freelance project
You GO Sister Goddess!

Thank you Jenn. And
By Lissa Rankin on Tuesday, 03/16/2010 at 5:04 AMThank you Jenn. And yes...balance is the ever-elusive key to inner peace, eh? Yes, I deeply desire that...I just scheduled 3 days of down time into my overbooked schedule to go to Harbin Hot Springs with a girlfriend. A girl can't just go go go...we must nurture our inner being in order to bring ourselves most fully into ourselves.
Dear Lissa it's inspiring to
By Jenn (not verified) on Tuesday, 03/16/2010 at 3:26 AMDear Lissa it's inspiring to read your BGD's. I am going to write these in my journal. A very good practice for any journal writing classes I am begin to lead, and for retreats. It is scary to own your power, but how liberating! I would only add that as women up their empowerment and desires, and go for the Whole Biscuit, we still need to have balance, as you've said. How to achieve over the top success, book tours and art tours and children and hubby and sex and still Program Down Time? it's up to us, I guess, to still leave time for REST and RENEWAL. take care, jenn
