I appeared today on Sacramento and Company to talk about how social media helped me get my mojo back. Thank you all!

By Lavonne (not verified) on Saturday, 05/01/2010 at 10:07 AMDear Lissa,
You blossomed in this segment :) The others have been good, but you really hit it on all cylinders here, girlfriend!
I'm so happy for you...it's not easy to keep answering the same questions without starting to sound scripted and while you hewed to your message, your delivery was delightful and real, just like you :)
Envisioning "What's up down there" climbing the bestseller list as soon as it's released... ;)
With lots of love, Lavonne

By Stan Schultz (not verified) on Saturday, 05/01/2010 at 7:19 AMBeautiful presentation. Social media is the Law of Attraction in action, makes perfect sense. Lots of good aha moments, very poised, professional and inspiring! Transcends gender too BTW. Thanks!

By Lissa Rankin on Saturday, 05/01/2010 at 5:21 AMThank you dearest Sulis. Yes, it's been a journey- but not one I could have ever planned.
And yes, I love what you said "They can make a positive different in their tribe big or small."
Amen, sister! Much love to you and thank you for witnessing the journey Lissa
Since I 'met' you through
By Sulis (not verified) on Saturday, 05/01/2010 at 5:11 AMSince I 'met' you through your honest description of your experience of Watsu at Harbin when you were writing through your prototype blog, I feel lucky to have witnessed the transition you've made Lissa.
There have been highs and lows and you've remained very human through those, which is a great deal of your charm. You're also very professional when it comes to health issues and that's a strong balancing factor.
Not everyone who taps into social media can rise to the top of the popular list as you have done here, but they can make a positive different to their tribe big or small if they keep that kind of balance I think.
For me, the message that leapt out in your interview here was the balance between stepping out for a dream/ goal and then surrendering the timing and form of the outcome. I know you've done that and the result has been better than ever!
For each one of us this will be different in detail and pacing. It's very supportive and inspiring to share the journey with others. Thanks for all you do Lissa.

By Lissa Rankin on Saturday, 05/01/2010 at 4:55 AMYes, Danielle- It felt spot-on to share our story when they asked how social media has changed me. What I tell people is that it's not just strangers in cyberspace typing 140 characters. These Twitter followers have turned into real live kickin' friends (like you, darling!)
And thanks Mama (*ah shucks*) I love you!
Kerrie, Go after your dream.
By Trish (not verified) on Saturday, 05/01/2010 at 4:24 AMKerrie, Go after your dream. When I talk to very successful people they say first that it was a risk. We fear risks, so we stay in our old worn and comfortable tracks instead of cross country-ing out into the unknown where the scenery will be spectacular since no one else has messed it up yet. You are brave already to tell your story, go for it. And let us know how it goes. I for one am saying a prayer that God will show you the way.
Lissa, Wow! Definitely your best. They gave you time and you got your book plugged. Hopefully being on local TV will help your practice too. It could snowball if you let it. Any new word on when your two books come out? Your words of encouragement touched at least one someone who needed to hear what God gave you to say. You are a gift to women in need right now. I'm prouder than a Dog with newborn puppies. Your Marme.

Lissa-Your best clip yet! You
By Dana Theus on Friday, 04/30/2010 at 3:36 PMLissa-Your best clip yet! You did great and such a beautiful and succinct description of your journey, integrating all the great stuff and weaving in the social media aspect of it... Just beautiful.
Kerrie-I just have to jump in and echo what Lissa said about setting your intention. That said, as I've found growing my own business and helping my clients, I will say I think there's both an art and a science to doing what you love, following your vision AND making a living. The "science" is around being a responsible business person who manages your money wisely and gets out there to make things happen. The "art" comes in having intentions, following guidance and - as Lissa said - letting go of outcomes. All not easy, but DOES work. And social media can certainly help, though it's just another way to reach out to the Universe, not a solution by itself.
I KNOW you can do it. I can feel your conviction in your words. Don't beat yourself up over putting your dreams aside; your motivations were good and now you are ready.
Good luck!
Love, Light and Blessings ~Dana

Wow, Kerrie! Just putting
By Lissa Rankin on Friday, 04/30/2010 at 12:34 PMWow, Kerrie! Just putting yourself out there- and asking for what you need is HUGE! It's the first step- getting absolute clarity on your desires. As I said in this clip, set goals-but release attachment to outcomes.
You CAN get your mojo back-and grow your business- but it may take risks. To grow my business, I needed a whole team- and I attracted them via social media. But I also liquidated my assets to make it happen and follow my dream.
Remember, you already have all that you need to have all that you want...
Much love and many blessings, Lissa
Hi Lissa, Very powerful for
By Kerrie (not verified) on Friday, 04/30/2010 at 12:16 PMHi Lissa,
Very powerful for me to hear your personal story, however brief a synopsis of the 'perfect' storm reference, as you term it. What was even somewhat more illuminating are your experiences with social media. Does this establishment of a professional cyber-base, i.e.; website, fb/twitter identity, only work for those who can readily fund choices? Is there another path to start with no capitol? Or are there ways to raise needed capitol?
I am just going to put it out here that I have assumed such a degree of traditional self-sufficiency for so long that I find me and my dream work in the world, are stagnating in the back eddies of the river of life. All this post full-time, single parenting foe twenty years.
My one and only graduates from (Reed) college in two weeks!! Meanwhile for four years, I have incorrectly assumed that I have to continue to take traditional steps back to the world of work in order to 'free' my monetary abilities to make choices in the foundation-building of my dream work. Social media makes it seem as though there may be ways to share this burden toward one's dreams and goals, instead.
I am an artist wanting to earn two more degrees. I have a vision for what I want to do in my 'late life' (must be a healthier word for it) career, but I do not know HOW to get myself there money-wise.
No, I am not asking for handouts. I am just starting from scratch on the personal material resources front. No, there is no financial crisis in my past, just no collateral except my art (which is valuable in the marketplace!!) and what I have done to raise my daughter to be emotionally/psychologically free of the historical impact that I simultaneously freed my own life from_ an undiagnosed (until 15 years ago) mentally ill parent.
I think what I hear you and others say is, through social media one can tap into the collective lift to put the 'mojo' back into an original intention. In my case, a creative healing intention that was strategically side-lined, in order to be pragmatic for a period of time. I don't mean all of those years parenting looked this way, as I was able to keep working, producing & selling some, as a full-time artist for ten years before I went back and finished my undergrad degree, when my daughter was eleven.
What internal shift is helping me to leave you this message today, is the re-recognition that I am already enough. I have enough resources right where I am. I have enough skills; I have enough drive, passion and motivation. I just need my community of resource and support now.
How can I take the steps to find community with the funding opportunities, so that I may go forward again in renewed studio production, refreshing my portfolio so I can also apply to grad school #1?
If pertinent, I can share my over all vision anytime, just ask!
I realize this is a forum that assumes comments will be directed only on the posted content so, I hope I can jump that assumption comfortably in reaching out here.
Thanks_
Kerrie
