Get Your To-Do List Done, One Piece at a Time

Guest Author's picture

Dear Pinkies, please welcome back my Pink Mommy Trish Rankin here with a cool idea for putting a bit of balance back into our lives.

Today I'm taking a "pieces day:" a day to do everything I haven’t had time to do, to pick up the pieces that I’ve left around because I am overscheduled. But aren’t we all? When we leave unfinished work, we tend to add guilt to our long list of tasks and issues. None of us needs guilt. Plus, when have things left on our plate at the end of the day, it can be hard to sleep, which further drains us of mojo.

I invite you to take a pieces day to clear that plate, get some refreshing sleep, and then reward yourself with something you want to do, like reading a book, spending time outdoors, or scrapbooking.

Here's what's on the list for my Pieces Day today:

  1. Compose a photo book online for my nephews who visited here.
  2. Plant the accumulated plants I’ve been collecting in my garage.
  3. Spread the peat moss and fertilizers necessary for healthy plants.
  4. Finish planning the university program I am giving in two weeks.
  5. Do more work on the book prospectus I am writing. (Next step: find an agent!)
  6. Do the laundry …. maybe.
  7. Take a walk with my new puppy and introduce her to my neighbor, who she said she’d babysit her (once she was potty trained).
  8. Go to Hot Meals tonight at our church to celebrate the 10th anniversary of providing meals to the homeless.
  9. Call the vet to get my puppy her shots.
  10. Call the groomer and get her established.

Can I do all of this? I’m not certain, but I know I can get a lot of it done. I've already started and am making great progress. What I don’t get done today will go on the top of tomorrow’s list, and I will feel so good when I am finished with my Pieces Day.

Can you give yourself a Pieces Day sometime soon? What would you do? What would be put on hold while you did it? How would you reward yourself?

Feeling accomplished,
Trish

With so many games streaming data from the HAZEL on the fly. The methodology for the tests was remarkably straight for ward first from HAZEL DVD, then from hard disk. As the opportunity to install to HAZEL DVD COLLECTION is obviously a compelling argument for upgrading the hard disk.HERE'S LUCY

I find we all waste alot of time, especially in the evenings. So I've come up with a plan to get small things done. While I am watching TV, I commit to getting up during the commercials and unloading the dishwasher, fold one load of laundry, work on the letter I need to write ( yes I still do that on paper) or fix a homemade soup for the next day. Not only do I relax in front of the TV but I get stuff accomplished and go to bed feeling good about my day. By the way, I got everything done on my list except introducing Paci to the neighbor. Not bad!

This is a great idea! I have many to-do lists that get relisted and added to. It would be nice to have one day that was dedicated to the little things I put off.

Wonderful! Megan
