There we were, 14 of us in a sacred circle sharing our hearts. We’d been there for a bit, and would be there for a bit more. One by one, each sweet soul shared their story, opened their soul -- when we were interrupted by the whirl of a chainsaw.

Today is the birth day of my third book, Mind Over Medicine: Scientific Proof That You Can Heal Yourself. Normally, I’d follow that sentence with a “Cue trumpets, let’s do cartwheels, “can you say PAR-TEE?” sort of comment. When Lissa Rankin first told me that she was writing a book about the impact that our thoughts, feelings, and beliefs can have on our physical health, I was enthralled. Let’s face it: in some form or another we all suffer from addiction. These days we often turn to drugs, alcohol, food, sex, work, the Internet and many other addictive obsessions in efforts to avoid feeling our discomfort. If we’re not addicted to the drugs, cigarettes or the typical vices then we are subconsciously addicted to fear, rejection, victim-hood etc. In some way we’re all addicted to negative patterns.
