[photo credit: photoxpress.com] Have you ever resisted opening your mailbox? Fretted over the seemingly endless pile of bills? Found yourself hoping, wishing, even intending for more cash to come in?
I was in Walgreens the other day, and I saw the Hollywood Cookie Diet. Imagine eating several cookies a day and losing all the weight you want. No need to look at what is causing your weight imbalance, or connecting with a deeper Truth about your weight, you can just choose some chocolate chips and “poof” -- you too can shed those unwanted pounds.
As ridiculous as a cookie diet may seem, I’ve witnessed this same style of thought being used in business prosperity. Just set your intention on what you want and like a spiritual Vegas vending machine, the cash, check, and clients will all start pouring in.
Mary wanted to be a grief coach. She had lost her husband to suicide, done her own healing work for years, and was ready to help others walk onto the tender path of loss and grief. However, Mary kept spending a lot of money on seminars about changing her thoughts and visualizing what she wanted. After several high-end workshops, Mary still didn’t have clients and although she had the skills to help those suffering, her finances were a complete mess.
I’ve witnessed hundreds of business owners trying maneifestation tools and techniques. It’s not that the tools are bad, or don’t work, it’s that visualizing and setting intentions on what you want is only one ingredient to making your business life more prosperous.
My friend Kenny brought over the most wonderful chocolate cookies the other night for dinner. After eating four of these cookies and drinking a lot of water, I was full and ate a lot less food the rest of the night. Now, I’m not clear on how the Hollywood Diet Cookie works, but I’ll take a guess that you eat some cookies, drink some water, and end up eating less calories. Not magic, just the basics of caloric intake and how metabolism and weight loss works...
There may not be a magic recipe for cookies or your financial growth; however, there are three ingredients that will help you move forward when manifesting more money:
We work so hard to find the mojo in our lives, and sometimes it feels difficult to find our mojo with money! Here are a few tips that have helped me along the way:
I’m curious -- what's your relationship to money and manifestation? Where have you felt stuck with (or broken free from) financial obstacles? How do you find your money mojo? Share your story!

Disciplined Action
By Jason (not verified) on Thursday, 07/15/2010 at 12:56 PM@Lissa, yep you got it, it's all about taking the vision into action. Looking forward to the other side of my dark night :-)
@Jennifer, Congratulations on getting to Step 4. And of course feel free to use anything I write with the OP guidelines.
disciplined action
By Lissa Rankin on Thursday, 07/15/2010 at 8:37 AMThanks for this Jason!
So funny you should write this. I was just having this conversation with fellow Owning Pink blogger Shana James yesterday, as we hiked along the coast. I was telling her about a lecture I heard from finance guru Barbara Stanny. Barbara interviewed dozens of multi-millionaire women and found that they all followed a similar path.
1. Some crisis ruptured them out of their daily lives and made them take notice.
2. They retreated in some way after their crisis.
3. During their retreat, they got in touch with their calling, which was inspired by service, not greed.
4. They employed a program of disciplined action.
5. They became millionaires.
So I hear you! The key in this story is DISCIPLINED ACTION. This is what drives me crazy about the Secret and such. You don't just set intentions and then set back. You must do your part.
Barbara Stanny's story inspired me so much, because my story is just the same. I had a crisis- my Perfect Storm. Then I retreated for 2 years in Monterey after quitting my job. Then I found my calling (Owning Pink). Then I employed disciplined action (what I'm doing right now). SO bring on the millions!
I think you must do both. You must set your intentions- then release attachment to outcomes. You must employ disciplined action without pushing so hard that you lose sight of your mission.
It's a fine balance. And I'm still trying to figure it out. Thanks for your help!
I'm with you, Lissa!

another synchronicity
By Jennifer Shelton on Thursday, 07/15/2010 at 4:15 AMThis is the second time this week that an Owning Pink post has exactly matched something I'm working on! At my virtual institute, I feature a theme a week. I provide a new resource for the theme each day. This week's theme is MONEY. I was trying to decide how to best wrap up the week tomorrow, and I saw your post! Do you mind if I "reprint" your post tomorrow (following the Owning Pink guidelines: http://www.owningpink.com/about/press/reprints)? I'll send you a direct link tomorrow as well.
Great post, btw!
Blessings,
