The full moon in Capricorn lights the skies, awakening the divine masculine in us all. Capricorn is the zodiac’s big poppa, the sign associated with fathers, men, and all things traditionally male. No matter our gender, we all have traits that are classically feminine and masculine. Carl Jung referred to this as the animus and anima. Just for this week, set your “lady parts” to the side and try on traits such as: self-awareness, initiative, outward creativity, courage, healthy assertion, perseverance, focus, and strength. Be a seeker. Pursue your goals. Actively engage with manifesting your dreams. Here are some rituals that can help you “man up” and make the most of this full moon:

Write A Prosperity Mantra

With so much hype about the economy, it’s just too easy to get swept up in a scarcity mindset these days, fretting about money and energetically blocking our flow. Enter the full moon in Capricorn, illuminating a refreshing new perspective on prosperity. Like the mountain goat that represents this sign, Capricorn teaches us to keep climbing up that hill, tirelessly moving towards the summit until we’ve achieved our dreams.

This week, pay attention to all the negative thoughts and conversations you are having about money. You might even break out a notebook and write them all down, in the name of clearing them from your subconscious and becoming aware of your own thoughts.   Then, pick the most prevalent ones and reframe them. Here are a couple examples:

Before: “I can’t afford that.”

After: “I will find a creative way to afford that.”

Before: “I will never be rich.”

After: “I am grateful for all that I have and I am open to receiving more.”

Before: “Money burns a hole in my pocket.”

After: “I am in command of my spending and saving.”

From fathers to brothers to gay boyfriends to the IT guy who quietly fixes your computer, take a moment to utter some heartfelt words of gratitude. If you are someone whose perspective on men has been shaped by painful experiences, let this Capricorn full moon be your healing salve, or at least a turning point. Bake your grandmother’s blueberry pie or try your hand at a relative’s to-die-for potato salad recipe. Revisit a popular family gathering spot and invite any relatives who live nearby to join you. If you’re far from your childhood provenance, sharing family traditions with your new crew of friends is a way of linking them to your past. If your memories of July Fourths gone by are less-than-pleasant, reclaim your Independence Day. Find an innovative way to celebrate that you can repeat each year, should you choose.

Play Goalkeeper

So, um, what were your 2012 resolutions, again? This full moon completes a cycle that was initiated with the Capricorn new moon on December 24, 2012. Sure, that seems like eons ago, but take a few moments to scroll back in your mental database and remember what issues were on your mind near New Year’s Eve.  Give yourself a huge pat on the back for any that you’ve accomplished; forgive yourself for any that flew off your radar. Then, harness the goal-oriented energy of Capricorn to create a few key milestones that you can achieve by the end of this year. Challenge yourself; get a little lofty. This strong-willed full moon will steel your resolve and get you pumped up about becoming bigger, stronger, and faster before the ball drops on 2013. One caveat: pick no more than three epic goals and make sure each covers a different area of life. If you scatter your energy in too many directions, you’ll never accomplish anything. Be sure to write your goals down and place them somewhere visible. Then, work backwards and map out the steps you’ll need to take to get to your desired finish line. Now for the motivating part: what will you reward yourself with for accomplishing these goals? Pick something good!
