Women Bloggers Are Changing the World

At the Vancouver Peace Summit 2009, the Dalai Lama said, "The world will be saved by the western woman." He also said,  “Women have a special capacity to lead us to a more peaceful world with compassion, affection and kindness. And there is no more important time for that than this moment.” And I think he’s right.

One open heart at a time

With the rising power, influence, and outreach of women bloggers, that message is getting spread far and wide at the speed of a cable modem. We, as women, can save the world -- one open heart at a time.

I’m about to gather with some of the greatest female minds on the internet at the BlogHer 2010 conference August 6-7 in New York City, where I will presenting at the Voices of the Year Keynote.  My friend Jory Des Jardins, one of the three co-founders of BlogHer, speaks so passionately about what inspired the founders to start BlogHer. When they looked at the top blogs out there on the internet, most of them were written by men, and yet women have so much to say. By banding women together to lift each other up, BlogHer has drawn attention to many whose blogs might not otherwise receive the attention they deserve, and in doing so, they have given women a voice and empowered their ability to do what the Dalai Lama says we will do -- save the world.

And save it we shall.

Spreading the word

I feel very blessed that we have two sponsors sending the Owning Pink team to the conference so we can get this world saving ball rolling. (Many thanks to Christine Bronstein, founder of A Band of Wives and U by Kotex for helping us spread the word). Our intention for attending this conference is that we will attract the other world-saving bloggers so we can lift them up and showcase their transformative work, while they do the same for us. It’s all about collaborating, rather than competing. And when your mission is healing the world (no biggie), you need as much help as you can get!

So if you’re going to be at the BlogHer conference -- or if you know one of these world-saving women who will be there, let’s hook up! If you’re not going to be there, send us some loving juju to help our intention manifest. We want to do more than network. We want to spread the love, link arm in arm with women bloggers, and be a force for divine work in the world.

The Dalai Lama would be proud.

Believing in women everywhere,
Lissa

As it inches closer and closer I am getting more and more excited. I can't wait to hear all of the amazing greatness that will be shared within the walls of the conference. I am SO ready to be inspired.

I'm all about our "long way", baby!

Congrats again and this is just OUR TIME. Stand up, but if you're going to sit down, type it out loud!

xoxo,
