Wow! Can we all agree that last week was a hard kick to the uterus?

I usually hate to write about “hot topics” after they’ve turned cold but the uterus doesn’t really fall into the hot topic category; it’s more of a buried topic; fuming in the coffin, clawing its way out, yet again, to eat the female population alive.  Yes, it may have slunk back into its shallow grave but trust me, it’ll be back. It just keeps creeping back.

Does The Pill Cause Gallbladder Disease?

For those of you who have chosen whether and when to have a family by taking birth control pills, I wanted to share with you my thoughts about a recent study published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal that concluded that certain birth control pills may increase your risk of gallbladder disease.

So what does that mean if you’re one of the millions of women taking birth control pills? Do you have to choose between simple, highly effective contraception and gallstones? Must you resort to less effective condoms or a diaphragm if you want to avoid gallbladder surgery?

Should Women Skip Periods? To Bleed or Not To Bleed

With the advent of extended cycle contraception (continuous birth control pills such as Seasonale), lots of women are talking about whether or not to have periods. 72% of women surveyed say they don’t like having periods, and 40% would prefer to never have one.  But 50% said they would never consider suppressing menstruation with hormones.  In fact, I was just interviewed by Body & Soul magazine regarding this very issue, and it’s such a juicy topic, I wanted to share with you some thoughts, in case you’re one of those women trying to figure out whether to bleed or not to bleed.
