In my last article, I spoke about a vision for a new form of marketing. One where, as business professionals, we could attract opportunities to us that were in greater alignment with our deepest intentions, both individually and collectively as teams. In this new world, there would no longer be a need for fear-based advertising. Instead, it would be about the presence we cultivated in ourselves as the key ingredient to greater abundance for everyone on the planet.
There was one piece of the vision that I left out -- the actual image that came to my mind of what the process could look like for both entrepreneurs and entire organizations. I’ve decided to write about it here.

When I arrived in Kansas as a part of The Magical Eyes Tour, I was overjoyed. The trip had been a long time coming since I discovered Shannon Kinney-Duh through her blog Free Spirit Knits. She has been an inspiration to my way of living since I learned about her existence! It was only natural that I make her home part of The Magical Eyes Tour and plan a Pink Salon while I was visiting.

A few weeks ago, Pinkie Pattie Lee wrote a fabulous letter to her 20 year-old self that inspired many of our writers to chime in and send words of wisdom and guidance to their younger selves as well (check out these fabulous posts from Kim and Leslee!). Today Suzanne joins the bunch with her insightful (and hilarious) advice -- and maybe the next time we're in traffic, we can all learn a little something...

"The things you are fired for are often the things that in later life you will be celebrated and given lifetime achievement awards for!" Francis Ford Coppola was canned for writing an "odd" and awkward script for the now legendary film Patton. The film was shelved, took years to make, and then went on to win an Oscar for best screenplay. Meanwhile, Coppola was working on The Godfather and was also on the verge of being canned from that film. First action, then inspiration ~ those are the words that drive me whenever I am looking for that elusive muse called inspiration. I’ve learned that if I show up first, whether it’s at my computer, a meeting, or a workout, she will most likely show up too. "You can’t stay in your corner of the forest waiting for others to come to you.

She has a tendency to panic. Makes it hard to trust her.
He is chronically greedy. Grew up dirt poor. Money is everything.
She is a channel of pure wisdom, a naturally gifted seer.
He is a genius, able to connect vast intellectual concepts.
She is fragile, new, and green to the concept of cause and affect.
He is angry, wounded, perpetually antagonistic.

Something has come over me. For months now I have been telling myself it will pass, but after this long, I cannot keep saying it. It would be a lie if I continued to act as though this space I am in is not part of who I am. If it weren’t, I wouldn’t be in it. Last week I wrote myself out of this space and referred to it as “the funk.” A day later I felt fine. However, I had an eerie sensation the funk would soon return.

In the past year Owning Pink has come encompass many facets of what it means to be all you, all of the time.

Sometimes, I am drawn to drawing, welcomed to writing. It's as if I can't help it — I am being called to get that stuff out that's in me, or coming through me.
This feels like inspiration.
Other times, I'm facing creative expression like it's a must. It's my duty. I HAVE to do it because I made a pact with myself. Or else!
This feels like discipline.
