Scorpio Full Moon: Open Closet, Exit Skeletons

scorpio full moon

Welcome back to the AstroTwins New/Full Moon series! Today, we dive into the depths with Scorpio's full moon, which cranks up the intensity and tunes us into our souls. Scorpio is a spiritual healer and the ruler of extremes. It can bring out both our darkest shadows and our highest selves. The Scorpio full moon reveals all of the “secrets” we’ve been keeping (including hiding our own light under a bushel). Open closet, exit skeletons.

Balance and Letting Go

This year’s Scorpio full moon is also opposite four planets in practical, grounded Taurus, indicating that we need to balance our material and spiritual desires. It’s fine to crave more money, luxury and beautiful things, but is it at the expense of a soul goal? On the flip side, this opposition reminds us that poverty, lack and struggle aren’t noble—nor are they necessary to be spiritually “enlightened.” Going without doesn’t make us more virtuous, and wanting nice things doesn’t mean we’re out of touch with the divine. Find the right balance today.

When Mother’s Day Is No Cakewalk

Mother's Day

Mother’s Day is today, which is a day to celebrate, right? We take Mommies out to brunch and give them flowers. Kids hand-craft macaroni necklaces to adorn Mommy in her Sunday dress. We kiss, hug, send cards, and jam up the phone lines as we remember our own mothers. In a perfect world, Mother’s Day would be a day we could all celebrate.

But, as some of you may know, we don’t live in a perfect world. For some, Mother’s Day is a day people want to dig a hole and crawl in. It’s a day they wish they could fast forward through. It’s a day that makes them cringe as they watch all the happy people bustle about wearing white orchids and smiling with happy children carrying balloons.

Shaking Loose What’s Stuck

shaking loose what's stuck

A couple of months ago, when both Dr. Christiane Northrup and her daughter Kate both raved about having done sessions with cranio-sacral therapist and energy healer Melanie Ericksen, I was intrigued. But then, when I got three emails about her in one day, I took it as a Sign From the Universe that I was supposed to have a session myself. When I discovered that Melanie, who lives in Florida, was scheduling sessions in the NY at the same time I would be in New York for the BlogHer conference, I knew it was kismet.

But I had no clue what to expect. Little did I know what was coming.

Everyday As The New Year

Please welcome the extraordinary Laura Campbell, Divorce Expert and Life Reinvention Coach, as well as the founder of The D Spot where she supports women to regroup, renew and reinvent themselves before, during and after divorce. With our recent conversations on religion and 9/11, this post on Rosh Hashana and renewal feels timely -- and who doesn't need an excuse for a little renewal on a Monday? Thanks, Laura!

Last week was Rosh Hashanah, also known as the Jewish New Year.

Each year since becoming an adult, I have eagerly anticipated the arrival of the Jewish New Year in September and the opportunity for reflection and renewal. Perhaps it is that Rosh Hashanah occurs just as the beginning of the school year arrives, that has created for me a true sense of renewal and reinvention.
