Imagine my surprise when this showed up in my inbox in a newsletter from Jessica Steward, a coach I admire. Not only was it specifically referencing a business challenge I’ve faced, but it’s actually written about me. I thought it was such a powerful article, I wanted to share it with you all here, in case any of you suffer from unfocused energy spray in your business the way I do!
Something clicked when I read this, and I suddenly realized that focusing my business energy isn’t the same as putting myself in a box or limiting who I am or what I do. It’s also okay to leave my business energy nebulous, if that’s what I choose to do. I found this article very insightful and professionally spot on, so I though you might too. Take it away, Jessica! -- Lissa Rankin

I’m so excited to be leading a workshop at Kripalu, a gorgeous retreat center in the Berkshires in Massachusetts in June, and for those who are considering signing up -- or even for those who will miss it, I wanted to share with you some snippets of what I’ll be teaching.
Do you need a jump start in your life? Are you feeling disconnected, both spiritually and from other people? Are you ready to ramp up your mojo, find your life purpose, get healthy, light your creative spark, and hang with me in the flesh?
If so, GOOD NEWS! You can unite with other vital women, speak your truth, be UNAPOLOGETICALLY YOU, get personal coaching, and light your Inner Pilot Light in the gorgeous setting of Kripalu.
You could say that my workshop is a “health” workshop, but if you said that, you’d be putting this workshop in a box and making it way too small -- although I’m a physician, I don’t think of health the way most doctors do. Which is exactly why I started OwningPink.com, because my definition of health includes not just the body, but also mental/emotional health, work/life purpose, relationships, creativity, spirituality, sexuality, and a whole lot more! I call it “whole health," aka “mojo.” As in GET YOUR MOJO ON, baby!
So what are we going to be doing?

Please welcome back one the beautifully insightful Tara Sophia Mohr -- writer and coach extraordinaire. Just don't call her a life coach! Read on to find out why (and as always, thanks to Tara for sharing her endless wisdom).
Sometimes, at cocktail parties and wedding receptions and barbeques, when the “So, what do you do?” question comes from a stranger, I’ll simply say, “I’m a coach.”
Then they say, “Oh, like a…like a….sports coach?”

These days everywhere I look I see the term “Coach." There are Life Coaches, Wellness Coaches, Health Coaches, Spiritual Coaches… you name it and I’ll bet my scrawny ass there’s a Coach for it.
To be very frank this hasn’t sat very well with me since the term first began being bandied about. The word “Coach” brought up repressed memories of a potato sack relay in 4th grade where I placed 5th and an image of Beulah Balbricker of “Porky’s” fame. I was 12 when I watched Porky’s for the first time and Beulah formed a scarier figure in my psyche than Jason Myers and Freddie Kreuger combined. Not only would Beulah yank on my proverbial dong, she would delight in my pain.

Human beings are wired to seek novelty and challenge. It may sound nice to live on the beach sipping fruity drinks all day, but the reality is that no one really wants to do that all the time. So we reach and stretch and find that we always have a little (if not a lot) too much on our plate. We generally feel slightly overwhelmed. And that can feel stressful. But it doesn’t have to.

"Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened." ~ Anatole France
I went to visit my family in Florida. We stopped in to have dinner at a restaurant that’s a hybrid quick-service / sit-down type of place. We love the food there and it was on the way home. I sat at the table with my two nieces, brother-in-law, and sister. The whole place was filled with tables like ours except for one person across the way, seated at a table by himself.

Please welcome back the extraordinary Tama Kieves, life coach, career coach, Pink goddess, and author of THIS TIME I DANCE!: Creating the Work You Love. Today Tama discusses how to acknowledge, honor, and use our gifts - and what happens when we don't. A brilliant reminder to tap into what truly moves you. Thanks, Tama!
I talked to a woman who had been very gifted in music, but who hadn't pursued it as an adult. "I am afraid of failing," she said, but as we talked further, she admitted in the quiet tones of held back truth, that she felt like a failure now. She felt tired and angry, out of sorts with her life. I don't blame her. It takes more effort to create a life you don't want than to create the life you crave.
