Pork Chops & Pudding Cups: Fear Of Ruts

I have one terrifying fear. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I have a lot of little fears too: fear of bathing suit season, fear of running out of Jell-O Pudding Swirls after the stores close, fear of getting an A- in one of my college courses, fear of handling raw chicken. But I’m not talking about these smaller fears. The singular fear I’m talking about is a doozy and just thinking about it almost gives me hives. I don’t hold this fear for myself alone either, I also fear for those whom I love.

A Perfect Day

Are you enjoying getting your Saturday Posse Party groove on? I know I am. Have you ever met one of those people who have such a bright beam of light hiding within that you just can't help but notice them? Claire is one of those people. I am lucky enough to be surrounded by beautiful people all day long in the Owning Pink Community (woo hoo!), but my heart was captured and held close when I read Claire's heartfelt post below. I hope you are able to bask in her bravery as I have. -- Megan Monique

Can I Have My House Cleaned and Keep My Conscience Clean, Too?

I had my apartment professionally cleaned for the first time today. This is something I thought I would never do. Right after I gave birth, five months ago, people kept telling me earnestly, “Don’t worry about the housework. Really, it can wait.” Clearly, these people had never visited my house if they thought I was concerned about the cleaning. It’s not like I’m growing penicillin in the kitchen (as far as I know), and that skunky smell in the bathroom is from an actual skunk who sprayed outside the window last night (I swear). I’m very neat, actually, and I’m great about doing the laundry. But the dust bunnies and I have a kind of tacit agreement; it’s akin to the “fish and guests start to smell after three days” axiom, except that the dust bunnies get to stay way longer.

Giving and Getting Joy When You’ve Lost Your Mojo

Every time I get sick, I promise myself that I’ll never take a healthy day for granted again. I vow to be mindful of how much energy is coursing through my body or how clear my head is. This usually lasts for a week or so. But when I lost my mojo last year, I took a similar vow to appreciate the mojo when I got it back, and this one has stuck.

A Life Ripe With Choices - How Do We Decide?

My life is ripe with choices. Some of these choices are fat on the vine: juicy, sun-kissed, and just waiting for me to reach out and pluck them. These maturated choices are easy – shall I have chicken and rice for dinner, or that container of cream cheese frosting? They are also often just plain obvious – should I stay up until 4:30 a.m. reading The Hunger Games, or should I try to get some sleep? (The answer is to read, of course. The answer is always to read.)

Create A Routine For A Mojo-Filled Day

Do you recognize this? You get up in the morning and you feel sluggish already. You hate the thought of the day ahead of you and at night you go to bed feeling dissatisfied.

You can change this, instantly, by creating a morning routine. Set your alarm a little earlier (I know, ugh, but trust me -- it's worth it!) so that you have some time just for you, and do something that energizes you and makes you happy.

What Happened to My Dude-Mojo?

Pink Communcation Manager and Lovemuffin Extraordinare writes: I am honored to welcome to the Pink stage for the first time, Why Is Daddy Crying. If I knew his real name, I'd tell you. But the fact is that it doesn't matter. For many months I have been following this wonderful character and the vibrant stories of him and his family. I was secretly waiting for a post to present itself that was Pink (and had less curse words.) Alas, here it is! Enjoy this hilarious story of reclaiming dude-mojo.

Revive Your Mojo by Paying Pink Forward

Please welcome one of our global Pinkies Maddie, who joins us from Melbourne, Australia and is an active member of the forum and posse blog. Originally from the UK, Maddie has been on a Seekers path over the past 5 or 6 years, exploring life's twists, turns, and tumbles. She calls it like she sees it, cheers Pinkies on from the rooftops, and offers advice when asked (but doesn’t sulk if you don’t take it!). This post is about paying Owning Pink forward, reminding us that when we find our mojos, the easiest way to reinforce what we've learned is to pass it on -- often to those least expecting it.

Enjoying Your Children (Mojo and All)

My children are very active, probably more so then most. They do not sit well, they do not eat well, they require very little sleep, and I only take them out in public on rare occasions. My younger child learned from a very young age how to unbuckle the straps of shopping carts and strollers, leaving me with no restraint system. Both my children are fiercely independent and have little fear. For these reasons, when my youngest was about eighteen months old, I even went against every value I had and bought a child leash... which didn’t work either. My son would run at full speed with the harness on and get jerked back when the leash ran out of slack. All the while, my three year old daughter would yell at the top of her lungs, “Walk me like a dog, Mommy!” It was from these moments on that I realized public outings only resulted in frustration, embarrassment and self-doubt of my parenting skills… so I decided to avoid them at all costs.
