Moving Meditation: A Pole Dancing Party

Moving Meditation ~ A Pole Dancing Party

I recently attended a private dance party where beautiful women moved in the emotionality of their vulnerability and magic happened. I was asked to work as the photographer and videographer - in between dancing - and this short video below shows what happened at this wonderful party. Some of the women at the party had never touched a pole in their lives. There were others who have been students of various studios for many years, most of which study at Sheila Kelley's S Factor, including myself.

Dance To Ignite Your Soul!

Dance. Dance. Dance. Shake your Hips.

This video, of a two year old dancing, captured my spirit today. I’ve shared it with everyone I know who loves dance as much as I do. I’ve watched it over and over. Each time, it makes me grin wider and inspires me to get up, dance, strutting through my kitchen and dining room while swaying and shaking my hips and booty.

What I Learned From Six Inch Stripper Shoes

I woke up to this sentence in my inbox last Tuesday:

So many of us feel a restlessness, a sense of yearning, a longing for something perhaps we feel we don’t quite deserve. We may love our partners and enjoy the intimacy we do have, and yet we have long suppressed the wild pony that bucks and kicks within us.

We Have Lift-Off! Book Tour Week 7

Nobody told me that when you write a book, you have basically no idea how it’s doing and how many people are reading it unless it winds up on the New York Times Bestseller’s List (mine hasn’t). So when people ask you how the book is doing, you shrug your shoulders and hope for the best.

Nia: Embody The Skin You’re In

When I heard that Debbie Rosas, founder of the Nia movement classes was going to be teaching a dance class at Mama Gena’s School of Womanly Arts, I thought “Sign me up.” I grew up taking dance classes and was in a ballet company in my younger years. Someone told me Nia was part dance, part martial arts, part healing arts, and as a dancer/doctor, I thought, “Perfect!”
