Independence Day AHA: Living the Questions

"Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves.  Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them.  And the point is to live everything.  Live the questions." - Rainer Maria Rike

Today, on Independence Day, I am speaking in front of the congregation at my Unity Church. It will be my first ever public-speaking engagement. I had what I considered a huge spiritual aha about two months ago and decided to make that the theme of my talk. The fact that I am presenting it on the 4th of July is even more appropriate because for me, the experience has been a ticket to freedom.

Surrender the Old to Make Way For the New

Today, we say goodbye to Owning Pink as we know it. Just over a year ago, I launched Owning Pink as my blog, where I would chronicle my journey of getting my mojo back. But we have outgrown the blog format I have come to know as home for the past year. Tomorrow, we launch the new site, and Owning Pink will be making some major shifts. I’ve had mixed feelings about this.

One World Of Love: How Love Can Heal The World

By Lissa Rankin, MD

My world has been swirling around Marla Maples's world for some time now. We share mutual friends like Mojo Mentor Tara Sutphen and kickin’ artist Kandy Lozano from my book Encaustic Art: The Complete Guide to Creating Fine Art With Wax. Once upon a time, Marla and Tara interviewed me for Tara’s radio show. But recently we had the chance to connect more intimately, and today I'll be a guest on Marla's Awakening With Marla Maples radio show, so please listen!  I’m so excited to share with all of you where Marla’s vision and mine overlap.

How To Conjure What You Wish to Create: Part 2

Yesterday, I posted a fairy tale about the Law of Attraction and making your dreams come true.  It’s an imperfect fairy tale, and one whose ending is uncertain, but I wanted to point out what I think is a flaw in Law of Attraction philosophies like The Secret.

The world is not a Fairy Godmother, waiting to grant us our three wishes. I believe we are all part of a Master Plan. We exist to fulfill our calling, live our life purpose, love openly, and serve the Master Plan.  While I don’t doubt the ability to create anything we desire, I think we “succeed” when we not only create, but we do so with the Master Plan in mind.  When we are driven, not by greed or ego but by divine purpose, we can create anything we desire.

How do you do this? Some thoughts…

A Return To Love- A Lesson in Surrender

"Give Love," artwork by Rita Loyd (c) 2002

I’m reading Marianne Williamson’s A Return To Love for the first time (and with each word I read, am questioning how my spirit would have allowed me to go so long without this book). I’m sure a gazillion posts are going to be born from my reading of it. However, I’ve just encountered the first moment of truth so intense that it compelled me to put the book down, march inside on this gorgeous day, and write down my thoughts.

Owning Emotions: The Compulsion to Comfort

cry

Who doesn’t love a good cry?

Turns out a lot of people don’t. Of course, there are safe spaces where we can own our tears … workshops, retreats, support groups, the Pink Posse. But there is still much of the world where the sight of someone crying will send an entire room into a silent panic.
