Yep, yep. The CDC posted an article yesterday on how to prepare for the Zombie Apocalypse. What with the end of the world nigh approaching today, a mother giving her 8-year-old Botox, doctors in Florida refusing to treat overweight women, and Skechers making butt-toning shoes for 7-year-olds, I'm really not all that surprised.
So yeah, the CDC is jesting a bit, but just in case the world IS ending today, they’re giving some great advice on emergency preparedness for other types of “lesser” disasters like tornadoes, floods, earthquakes, and more.
However, upon reading about the undead this morn over my first cup o’ Joe, I couldn’t help but mutter, “Aren’t I already living through a Zombie Apocalypse right now?”

So yesterday was Owning Pink’s two year birthday (WOOT!). And yet, we couldn’t get on the site to plan our big PAR-TEE because the site was crashing all of Tuesday afternoon, then night, then well into our anniversary Wednesday...
Why?
Vaginas.

There’s this question that doesn’t so much bother me, but certainly nags me:
Why can’t I keep “life” going while simultaneously feeling into what’s next for me?
It pops up when I hear from the man who maintains a rigorous daily yoga practice, plays drums in a band and runs a school; the lady who owns her own consulting firm and happens to be an ordained Buddhist priest; the guy who meditates for an hour a day and is a grad student and works 30 hours a week. People who are making livings, making strides, and making space.

Sometimes when we feel like the world is caving in upon us and we are lost and alone and vulnerable, The Universe steps in to show us that we are never alone. I have had many such experiences, but none as powerful as the one that occurred on August 30, 2006. It changed my life forever and showed me that nothing can separate us from those we love.

It began with a conversation with a friend over homemade chai. Within minutes we both suddenly understood that everything we’d each been feeling separately over the past several months – all the darkness and confusion and stuckness and fear – have been in service of a much greater joy that that is waiting for us to claim it as our own.

So many people use “trusting the Universe” or believing in “God’s plan,” or what’s meant to be, a kind of pious reason to sit in their rocking chair, nurse their wounds, and wait for a rainbow, a pay check, or a patron to come knocking at their door. Yeah, well, my spirituality is a call to vibrancy. It’s got rocket fuel. Because I do trust Spirit, because I do believe that I am meant to be what I dream of being, I take action. My faith gives me legs--- to go with my wings.

“The secret of happiness is to count your blessings while others are adding up their troubles.” ~ Author unknown
A couple of weeks ago I read an article about a lady who keeps two bowls of river rocks on her fireplace mantel, one filled with white rocks, and one filled with darker rocks. Every time something positive happens in her day, she switches one of the dark rocks with a white one to symbolize the positive occurrence, and each time something bad happens she takes the stone out and puts it back in its original bowl.

Yesterday, I posted a fairy tale about the Law of Attraction and making your dreams come true. It’s an imperfect fairy tale, and one whose ending is uncertain, but I wanted to point out what I think is a flaw in Law of Attraction philosophies like The Secret.
The world is not a Fairy Godmother, waiting to grant us our three wishes. I believe we are all part of a Master Plan. We exist to fulfill our calling, live our life purpose, love openly, and serve the Master Plan. While I don’t doubt the ability to create anything we desire, I think we “succeed” when we not only create, but we do so with the Master Plan in mind. When we are driven, not by greed or ego but by divine purpose, we can create anything we desire.
How do you do this? Some thoughts…
